Grand Theft Auto is one of the largest franchises currently on the market, and if these rumors turn out to be true, it couldn't possibly be a bad thing for Nintendo or its loyals. If Nintendo is really serious about recapturing the heart of the core gaming crowd then having Grand Theft Auto prominently featured as a launch title for their new system is sure to get them a long way. Rockstar is said to be hoping to have GTA V ready in time for the new Nintendo system's launch in late 2012, which is some of the best news any Nintendo fan could hope for. Unless Nintendo were to pay Rockstar a stupidly large amount of cash to keep the game platform exclusive, there's just no way Rockstar would even consider missing out on the other 2/3 of the market.
Of course, that portion of this rumor is something completely obvious, and makes a ton of sense. The french gaming site also states that the new Grand Theft Auto game will also be coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Those who currently own an Xbox 360 or PS3 shouldn't feel threatened by this rumor though, because Rockstar Games isn't likely to forget about other console owners anytime soon. Nintendo and Rockstar have always gotten along, and Rockstar hasn't neglected Nintendo in the past as is evident by the Wii version of Bully, and even Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the Nintendo DS. This is certainly a surprising amount of news at first glance, but after some thought it makes a lot of sense. That's where the Wii 2 comes into play, because apparently Rockstar has a dev kit for the unrevealed system and they are hard at work trying to get GTA 5 ready for the new console's launch. The latest rumor is from none other than the French website Gamekyo and it states that Rockstar is indeed prepping GTA V, but this game won't be skipping out on a Nintendo console version this time around.
That means that even if you didn't look at the sweet header image above (for some reason) and went straight into this article then hopefully you've already peiced together where I'm going with this. So when a new report brings two of the largest hot topics currently being spoken amongst gamers everywhere, you better believe Game Rant is going to cover it.
There some who wonder whether Grand Theft Auto V could have sold well on the Wii-U considering its immense popularity throughout the 10’s decade. At one point Grand Theft Auto V was prototyped for the Wii-U sometime during the mid 10’s but was never officially released for eighth generation console. Grand Theft Auto V also became the best selling video for the Xbox One console reaching over 8.7 million in sales overall.
